KVK Scientific Advisory Committee meeting held
ZIRO, Feb 11: The Scientific Advisory Committee, KVK met today at Hapoli to review
the annual action plan of the Kendra for the year 2015-
Chairing the meeting District Training Officer G Hocha emphasized on the need for a comprehensive survey of the topographical conditions of the district before farm trails. He advised the KVK to work for the upliftment of the farming community and to aid in improving the economic conditions of the farmers as KVK works with the grass root level organizations.
In the deliberations, the activities undertaken by the Kendra were elaborately discussed. Subject matter specialists(SMSs) of Horticulture, Agronomy, plant protection, Fishery, Soil science and Agriculture Extension dealt in details about the farm trails and Front line demonstrations undertaken during the previous year and also presented their action plans.
Participating in the deliberations Progressive farmer Kago Kampu appealed for timely delivery of seeds for better production. She also shared practical issues faced by the farmers of the Ziro Valley and requested the SMSs to adopt technologies that would be apt for the cold conditions of the Ziro valley. She also volunteered to donate her land to the KVK for their farm trails.

International Conference on Ancient Tradition and Culture
ITANAGAR, Feb 11: Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) Secretary General Bai Taba and Secretary (West) Gyati Rana represented Arunachal Pradesh in the recently held 5th International Conference on Elders of Ancient Tradition and Culture at Mysore.

ICAR conducts training on oyster mushroom cultivation

Raghuveer Singh, Scientist (Plant Pathology), delivered a lecture on "Oyster mushroom cultivation" and its importance, details of cultivation practices. The farmers were trained practically on oyster mushroom cultivation. They were also made acquainted with the different equipments and machineries available in the mushroom spawn production laboratory.
This programme was technically assisted by Sikimoni Baruah, B. Pait and Rabindro Singh.
Mushroom spawns and poly bags were distributed among the trainees.
Debate completion on prepaid metering system
ITANAGAR, Feb 11: A debate competition was organised by Deputy Director, APEDA, Tezu division on implication of prepaid electricity metering system in conservation of energy in Arunachal Pradesh at Govt. Polytechnic, Namsai yesterday.
Nungkam Tangha, Deputy Director, APEDA, explained the students in details about the new system of prepaid electricity metering introduced in the state.
The Principal, Govt. Polytechnic, Namsai also spoke and encouraged the student and NGO groups to create more public awareness on newly introduced prepaid energy metering system, the methods of recharging and facilities made available in both urban and remote areas.
Many of the participants debated on the recharging and maintenance procedures of the system.
Appeal for releasing wages

Describing the hardship and financial problem faced by the poor unskilled labourers due to non release of their wages since April, 2014, ASBSU in a representation has requested the Chairman of Labour Union, West Siang district to look into the matters seriously and take up the matter with authorities concerned for early release of wages.
Although the labourers have been demanding for their wages besides staging dharnas in front of the District Horticulture Office, West Siang from time to time no positive response has been received yet from the government, ASBSU informed in a release.

MLA expresses concern over delay in construction work
SEPPA, Feb 11: The Parliamentary Secretary Tourism Mama Natung expressed concern over delay in construction of Seba Bridge in a joint meeting with the representative of Artha (Sushee) construction Agency and public of Pappu Valley at Seppa today.
The bridge collapsed last year when Excavator of the construction agency was crossing it.
Natung visited the collapsed bridge site on February 6 last but to his surprise, the construction works was yet to start whereas the Artha (Sushee) construction Agency committed to complete the bridge by 31st March 2015 in a meeting convened by DC last year.
It was resolved in the meeting that the construction agency shall begin construction works of Seba Bridge from February 26 and assure to complete it by March 31. The company also assured to handover all the moveable and immovable properties of the company under the custody of the public if the work is not done as per the assurance.

The students gathered knowledge about the distribution pattern of subtropical Alnus and Oak forest and conifer species such as Himalayan Blue Pine (Pinus wallichiana), Chir Pine (Pinus roxburghii), and temperate and subalpine conifers such as Cupressus, Juniperus, Tsuga, Abies and Taxus. The young team has also learnt a practical lesson during this short but landmark expedition that the global warming and climate change could drastically alter the species distribution in alpine and subalpine region of Eastern Himalaya as alien and invasive tropical and subtropical species could easily migrates towards temperate and subalpine once temperature are raised due to global warming. The team also learnt that gradual shifting of timberline species Abies towards higher altitude could also mean scanty snow fall, recession of ice sheet and raising temperature of subalpine and alpine zone which could act as excellent indicator for global warming and climate change studies in the eastern Himalaya region.

Awareness campaign on wildlife conservation

DAPORIJO, Feb 11: The four days wildlife awareness campaign and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan concluded at Jeram village today with a call for protection and preservation wildlife.
Addressing a gathering during the campaign, Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom urged the villagers to stop random killing and poaching of wildlife. Highlighting the importance of wildlife, the DC called upon people that they should come forward voluntarily and work for protection and preservation of our wildlife.

Work together for betterment of state
In the last few days' number of union ministers is visiting state and holding meeting with state government officials to get first hand information about ground realities. First union minister of civil aviation P Ashok Gajapati Raju visited Tezu last month to assess the construction work of the ongoing Tezu airport work being undertaken by Airport Authority of India. After him agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh and Union minister for Water Resource, River Development & Rejuvenation of Ganga Uma Bharti came on official tour to the state.
All the ministers assured every possible help to the state. Both Ministers Radha Mohan Singh and Uma Bharti held meeting with state government official lead by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki. Also Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the statehood day celebration on 20th February at Itanagar. It looks like union government is serious about developing this border state keeping in mind the Chinese factor. It is a well known fact that China has constructed world class infrastructure across the border and things are just opposite in this side of border. Government of Arunachal should take opportunity of the helping hand being offered by union government and accelerate the pace of development. However state units of BJP and Congress should keep their political differences aside and work together for the betterment of state. Just for political mileage, the two parties should not compromise with development of state.

Facts relating to rescue of elephant calves and arrest of poachers

With reference to the news item regarding rescue of two wild elephant calves and subsequent arrest of four poachers published in your esteemed daily on February 9 last, I would like to highlight the fact relating to the rescue of elephant calves and arrest of poachers from jungle.
The combined team of Mebo Police SI K P Sharma, IO of Pasighat PS Case No. 16/15 u/s 429/34 IPC R/W Sec 9(2) Wild Life Protection Act along with two Sls (Prov) of Pasighat PS accompanied by N. Tamuk, R.O Mebo and his staff had reported at Chongkham for arrest of poachers Shingkai Chingkai and his party and recovery of wild elephant calves. But they had no idea where to search the accused and the wild elephant calves nor their controlling officers were able to guide them at that juncture. They entirely depended on police assistance from Chongkham.
Through a local source information was collected regarding the possible hide out and I led the party and decided to search the elephant calves training camp of Shingkai Chingkai instead of raiding his house.
Ultimately, the team was led to the camp in Kherem Jungles where we found two wild elephants calves while the poachers were sleeping in a hut with polythene roof. Then only the Pasighat Police/Forest Party arrested them and seized the wild elephant calves and informed the matter to CCF (Central Arunachal Circle) Miko Tago and DFO(T) Pasighat Tabang Jourah and East Siang SP Devendar Arya. Their supervision started after the recovery of two wild elephant calves and arrest of 4 accused but not before the recovery and arrest.
The hard work and efforts of the Chongkham Police were not mentioned in news item/press release. However, a good effort had been done. Now one more elephant calve is to be recovered which was sold for Rs 30000 by poachers to some local people of Bizari as reported by reliable sources.

Employees need to behave
Dear Editor,
Through yours esteemed daily, I would like to express my pain regarding the misbehaviour of Govt officials and staff.
It is common phenomenon in our state that Govt officials come to office late and do not cooperate with public properly. They give priority to their relatives and the people at the higher position than common people. Most of the employees behave like dictator except few.
When we enter office of any department we feel low and morally down. In many cases, I have witnessed officers behaving like dictator. I know this letter will not make any impact on such people. What is the reason behind it? Are not they for the welfare of the people?
I am not saying all officers behave the same.
Its my serious request to the officials that they be better behaved and also get the work done on time. Particularly please don't not humiliate villagers as most of them are illiterate and they do not know the system well.
Remember your tough, struggling days and get off your ego.
